Step-by-Step Smart NIC Application Procedure
Step 1: Obtain the Application Form from Grama Niladhari
Visit your local Grama Niladhari (GN) to obtain the official Smart NIC application form. The GN will verify your residency details and provide necessary endorsements.
Step 2: Obtain ICAO Digital Barcode Photo at Registered Studio
Standard physical photographs are no longer accepted for Smart NIC issuance. You must visit a DRP-registered I-Studio to capture an ICAO-compliant digital photo. The studio will upload your photo directly to the DRP database and hand you a Digital Photo Barcode Receipt.
Step 3: Submit Application at Divisional Secretariat
Hand over your completed application form, the ICAO photo barcode receipt, and original supporting documents to the NIC Branch at your Divisional Secretariat.
