A medical certificate from the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) is mandatory in Sri Lanka whether you are applying for a new driving license or renewing an existing one.
To avoid standing in long queues early in the morning at medical centers, you can now reserve an e-Appointment online using your smartphone or computer before visiting.
Required Documents
Bring the following documents with you on the day of your medical examination:

Step-by-Step Online Booking Guide
Step 1: Visit the eChannelling or NTMI Portal Open your browser and navigate to [www.echannelling.com](https://www.echannelling.com) or www.ntmi.lk.
Step 2: Select the Medical Institute In the search bar, type “National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI)” and choose your nearest branch (e.g., Nugegoda, Galle, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kurunegala).
Step 3: Choose Date & Time Select a convenient Date and an available Time Slot from the calendar.
Step 4: Enter Personal Details Fill in your Full Name, NIC Number, and active Mobile Number accurately.
Step 5: Make Payment Online Pay the appointment fee securely using a Credit/Debit Card or via Mobile Reload/Bill Account.
Step 6: Receive Confirmation SMS Upon successful payment, an SMS containing your Reference Number and appointment details will be sent to your mobile phone.
What to Do at the NTMI Center

Arrive at the selected NTMI branch at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time slot.

Show your SMS Reference Number at the entrance counter to collect your token number.

Complete the basic blood test, eye vision test, and general health examination to receive your medical certificate on the same day.
