Sri Lanka University Admission Z-Score Cut-Off & UGC Online Appeals Guide 2026

Following the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) examination results, the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka releases the official minimum Z-Score Cut-Off marks and candidate selection lists for undergraduate degree courses across national universities.

Students who wish to change their assigned degree program/university or those who met the cut-off criteria but were not selected in the initial allocation can submit their Appeals online through the UGC portal.

1. How to Check Your University Selection & Z-Score Online

Students can verify their university placement and stream-wise cut-off scores by following these steps:

1. Visit the Official UGC Portal: Go to selection.ugc.ac.lk or ugc.ac.lk.

2. Enter Index/NIC Details: Input your A/L Index Number or National Identity Card (NIC) number.

3. View Selection Status: The screen will display your candidate details, overall Z-Score, District Rank, Island Rank, and the specific Selected Course of Study and Allocated University.

2. UGC Online Appeals Process

All appeal applications related to university admission must be submitted exclusively through the official UGC e-Services portal.

3. Important Rules to Remember Before Appealing

• Order of Preference: You can only appeal for courses/universities listed above your currently allocated course in your original handbook preference list. You cannot switch to a lower preference.

• Submission Deadline: Online appeals must be submitted within 14 days (2 weeks) from the date of the official Z-Score publication.

• Appeal Processing Fee: Ensure any applicable processing fee mandated by the UGC is paid via online banking or bank slip before submitting your appeal form.
