Required Documents for License Renewal

Before visiting the DMT office, ensure you have the following documents ready:

  • Your existing Original Driving License

  • Your National Identity Card (NIC) or valid Passport

  • Medical Fitness Certificate issued by the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI)

  • Police Report (required only if your current license is lost or damaged)

Step 1: Book Your NTMI Medical Fitness Test

A valid medical fitness certificate from the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI) is mandatory for driving license renewal:

  • Online Booking: Book a medical appointment through eChannelling or the Doc990 portal/app under the NTMI section.

  • Phone Booking: Call 225 from any mobile network (Dialog, Mobitel, Airtel, Hutch) to reserve a time slot.

  • Medical Exam: Visit the selected NTMI center on your appointment date to complete your health checkup and collect your certificate (valid for 6 months).

Step 2: Schedule a DMT Online Appointment

After securing your medical certificate, schedule your visit to the DMT office online:

  2. Enter your NIC Number and active Mobile Number.

  3. Select Renewal of Driving License under the service category.

Step 3: Visiting the DMT Office and Final Process
