Sri Lanka Digital Identity Card (e-NIC) Registration Guide 2026

The Department for Registration of Persons (DRP) in Sri Lanka provides the Smart Digital National Identity Card (e-NIC) embedded with a Unique Digital Identifier (SL-UDI). Obtaining this smart polycarbonate identity card is mandatory for all citizens aged 15 and above.

Required Documents & Prerequisites

  • Original Birth Certificate: Certified copy issued by the Registrar or Additional District Registrar.

  • ICAO Photo Receipt: Digital photo receipt obtained from an authorized ICAO-compliant photo studio (taken within the last 6 months).

  • Application Form: Duly completed application form (Form D.R.P/1, 7, or 8).

  • Grama Niladhari Attestation: Endorsed by the local Grama Niladhari and counter-signed by the Divisional Secretariat.

Step-by-Step Application Process
